Slow down, and enjoy Spring.
Hello everyone,
It’s springtime again, perhaps my favourite season. It’s a great time of year to take notice of nature bursting back into life after the dormancy of winter.
Sometimes, however, due to a busy lifestlye, we can have difficulty enjoying the present moment.
If you have trouble with a “racing mind”, the following breathing exercise can help. It can also make you more receptive to what is going on around you, and so help you to enjoy the wonders of spring more fully. It can even help you nod off to sleep when your mind is active.
The “7/11” breathing exercise.
1. Breathe in slowly for a count of 7 while listening to the sound of your breath coming in.
2. Hold for a second at the top of the in-breath, and breathe out slowly for a count of 11, listening to the sound of your breath going out.
3. Do this three to five times, and you should notice your mind has slowed.
You will be amazed at the power of this little exercise. It can help you to get out of your head and into your body, where you are more yourself.
I wish you a happy, and joy-filled spring.
Best wishes,
Michael
